At District 36 Tattoo Parlor, we believe that getting a tattoo is not just an art, it’s an experience. Our licensed professional tattoo artists make sure to give proper tattoo aftercare instructions to our clients to take care of their fresh and new tattoo. Here are 2 ways of taking care of your fresh and new tattoo.
Tattoo Aftercare
Traditional
Congratulations on your new tattoo! At District 36 Tattoo Parlor, we understand that proper aftercare is essential to ensure that your tattoo heals correctly. If you prefer not to use the Saniderm film or if it peels off before the recommended 4 days, we have provided traditional aftercare instructions below. Proper aftercare is crucial to ensure that your new ink heals properly, so please read these instructions carefully.
Step 1:
Remove bandage within 1-2 hours after getting your tattoo. (Do not re-bandage)
Step 2:
Wash your tattoo with an anti-bacterial liquid soap. (Make sure your hands are clean)
Step 3:
Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. (Do not rub)
Step 4:
The first 3-4 days: Rub a thin layer of Ointment on your tattoo. Always use clean hands. Apply ointment 3-5 times daily
Step 5:
On the 3rd or 4th day your tattoo will begin to peel. This is normal! Do not pick at the skin. Begin using fragrance free lotion
Step 6:
Do Not soak in water, or expose your new tattoo to the sun for 2 weeks.
Tattoo Aftercare
Saniderm Film
At District 36 Tattoo Parlor, we believe that getting a tattoo should be a special and enjoyable experience from start to finish. That's why we've introduced a new way of taking care of your tattoo while it is healing. Our Saniderm film is a brand of adhesive bandage that provides a transparent, breathable, and waterproof barrier that protects your tattoo from bacteria, dirt, and other contaminants. With fast and quick healing, you'll be able to enjoy your new tattoo sooner than ever before!
Step 1:
Keep film on for 4-5 days. Do your best to avoid the sun. The first 3 days are the most important, the tattoo is still an open wound. Leaving the film on will help provent from any infections.
Step 2:
The first 2 days you want to avoid water completely. Try not to sweat in the area with film, it can cause the film to peel.
Step 3:
When removing film, peel the corner and let water inside. This will help wet the adhesive from the film to peel easier. You may still have adhesive from the glue after removing. It will take a few times washing in order to remove completely.
Step 4:
Soak film really well. If needed use antibacterial soap to help peel off the film.
Step 5:
While removing film, do not pull towards you tattoo. Pull away from tattoo. This will help to not rip your new tattoo or skin.
Step 6:
After film is removed, clean with antibacterial soap. Let the tattoo air dry for a couple of minutes. Then apply our Aftercare cream as needed. Do not allow tattoo to dry out.
